Need an Emergency Dentist Near Toronto? What to Do First
What counts as a dental emergency, first-aid steps for toothaches and knocked-out teeth, and how to reach Nova Family Dental in Richmond Hill.
Dental emergencies rarely happen at convenient times. Knowing what to do in the first hour can save a tooth.
Signs you need urgent care
- Severe or throbbing tooth pain
- Facial swelling
- A knocked-out or loose adult tooth
- A broken tooth with sharp pain
- Bleeding that will not stop
First aid at home
For a knocked-out tooth, hold it by the crown, rinse gently, and keep it in milk or in your cheek while you get to a dentist. For swelling, use a cold compress on the outside of the face. Swelling with fever or trouble breathing or swallowing needs a hospital emergency department right away.
